Finally, we got to know what the new iPad 2 is all about. The event was great. And the new iPad is even better than we thought. There was so much information and discussion going one that we decided to summarize everything right here the features and information all about the new iPad.

The second-generation iPad from Apple is thinner, faster, lighter, and whiter, but not a radical departure from the original. Pricing is also holding steady, starting at $499 for a 16GB Wi-Fi-only model, up to 64GB with 3G (provided by AT&T or Verizon without contract) priced at $829.

New iPad 2 Features

• It’s got a dual core processor as well as improved video
• Front and rear-facing cameras
• Gyroscope.
• Thinner design, even thinner than an iPhone 4 (8.8 millimeters vs. 13.4 millimeters)
• “It is not a little bit thinner, but a third thinner,” Jobs said
• Lighter (1.3 pounds vs. 1.5 pounds for the original)

• “We’re going to be shipping white from Day 1,” Jobs said.

• Accessories include a $39 HDMI out cable that mirrors what’s on the iPad at up to 1080p resolution and a “smart cover” that uses magnets to attach to the iPad and allow it to stand up without adding bulk of a case. The cases come in 5 polyurethane colors for $39 apiece and 5 leather colors for $69,
• And the iPad 2 will be out March 11 in the U.S. and two weeks later in 26 other countries.

New iPad 2 Information

iOS 4.3 was announced with the following features

• Along with iPad 2, Apple is releasing iOS 4.3. Jobs brings Scott Forstall on stage to talk about it.
• 4.3 boasts improved Safari performance via a Nitro Javascript engine, iTunes Home Sharing and a bunch of AirPlay improvements.
• The next iteration of AirPlay supports video play in apps as well as the browser.
• Another addition, allowing users to use the iPad switch as a mute button or a rotation lock.
• And another, this one for iPhone 4 only–Personal Hotspot.
• And another, this one for iPhone 4 only–Personal Hotspot.
• Moving on now to software updates. iOS 4.3 supports Apple’s PhotoBooth application with all its various filters which can now be manipulated with touch.
• Next … FaceTime. “We support it on the iPhone and the iPod Touch and now we’re bringing it to iPad,” says Forstall adding that any combination of those devices can FaceTime one another.
• “The size of the iPad is just ideal for FaceTime,” says Forestall. “Your face just fits perfectly within the dimensions of its screen.”
• iOS 4.3 will be a free download on March 11 and it will support most of Apple’s newer iOS devices.

SAN FRANCISCO, Amerika Syarikat (AS) – Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Apple, Steve Jobs, 56, membuat kejutan apabila dia hadir dengan tubuhnya yang kurus semasa mendedahkan versi kedua iPad kelmarin.

Orang ramai berdiri bertepuk tangan apabila Jobs yang merupakan pengasas syarikat Apple menaiki pentas di Pusat Yerba Buena di sini dengan gaya yang bersahajanya, memakai baju berkolar, seluar jean biru dan cermin mata.

“Kami telah bekerja keras untuk menghasilkan produk ini dan saya tidak mahu melepaskan hari yang bersejarah ini,” katanya.

Beliau berkata, tahun 2010 merupakan tahun buat iPad sebelum skrin video memaparkan komputer tablet Apple itu.

“Kami melalui permulaan yang susah dan tidak pernah berehat untuk kejayaan ini. Kami akan memperkenalkan iPad 2 hari ini (kelmarin),” kata Jobs. Berita yang dibawa beliau itu menyebabkan saham Apple melonjak dengan serta-merta.

Situasi itu berlaku kerana Jobs tidak muncul sejak Januari lalu kerana dia mengalami masalah kesihatan dan kerap mengelak daripada menghadiri majlis besar anjuran syarikat Apple.

Pada bulan lalu, sebuah akhbar di AS menyiarkan gambar-gambar Jobs yang kelihatan terlalu kurus di Palo Alto, California.

Kira-kira 10 tahun yang lalu, beliau telah menjalani pelbagai rawatan untuk merawat penyakit kanser pankreas dan melalui pembedahan pemindahan hati.

Namun, iPad 2 yang diperkenalkan Jobs itu lebih nipis, ringan dan mempunyai pemprosesan yang lebih cepat serta dilengkapi dua buah kamera untuk merakam foto serta perbualan video.

Ia datang dengan dua warna, hitam dan putih dengan ketebalan hanya 8.8 milimeter berbanding model sekarang setebal 13.4 milimeter.

“Sebenarnya, iPad 2 lebih nipis daripada iPhone 4″ jelas Jobs.

Model baru itu akan berada di pasaran pada 11 Mac ini dan berharga di antara $499 (RM1,512) hingga $829 (RM2,513) bergantung kepada kapasiti memori dan kebolehan bersambung dengan Internet melalui talian selular.

Di AS, iPad 2 akan bekerjasama dengan At&T dan Verizon Wireless.

Syarikat Apple turut mencipta beberapa aksesori baru untuk iPad 2.

Antara aksesori baru itu ialah soket yang membolehkan pengguna menghubungkan iPad 2 kepada televisyen beresolusi tinggi. -Agensi/kosmo
